Switching to a Plant Based Diet in Winter
The crazy year of 2020, admits the chaos and The uncertainty we had about the world, we were searching for a silver lining and so was i. little did I know this would lead me to a path Of self-discovery and bettering my health. and my family both decided to go through a significant dietary change transitioning to a plant-based diet. As I reflect on this transition, I'm so happy that I got to do this and very grateful that I have to share my experiences on this blog today.
How did I think of starting this process?
Don't know if 2020 started like any other year but the pandemic did turn our lives upside down and being confined in my house left me with so much time to think about so many things. with boredom creeping and I want to make a change in my life because there's not much I could change about being stuck between four walls. I started finding ways to get fit in this time that I had I started running and exercising. although me and my mom also started watching a lot of TV. that ended up transforming our house and our diet. these helpful YouTube channels talked about the ingredients that are used in the American food market. This change and diet didn't happen overnight as my mom started buying healthier alternatives to foods that we loved lightly. before we knew it a couple of months our entire house had no junk food at all and everything was plant-based. my mom tried to make new meals that incorporated more plants and vegetables than before.
Struggles when leaving the house
World woke up from quarantine I found something hard when we decided to go out and eat because a lot of restaurants did not have plant-based options and I was already used to this as being a vegetarian and trying veganism. but now this was hard. so we took the time to find restaurants and places that we like to eat that that had options for us. even on vacation in Miami we found an amazing restaurant called Pura Vida that had all plant-based food drinks and desserts and it was again the problem I'm going to talk about a little bit pricey but it was good.
Finances
Let me start it may not be for everyone and the major concern that my family had for going on a plant-based diet was that it is a very expensive lifestyle to uphold. groceries that are plant-based versus regular cost so much more than just regular groceries.
Was it all worth it?
As months turned into years, I now see the profound changes in my health and well-being. Energy levels are soaring, and I feel more vibrant and alive than ever before. gone were the days when I felt sluggish and my digestive system was in discomfort. I experienced a newfound sense of Vitality that filled my passion for life. but beyond just the physical effects that I saw from switching my diet to playing it, I felt a sense of alignment with my values of sustainability and compassion towards animals. knowing that the way that I eat contributes to a more healthy planet and a more ethical way of living.
I believe in you!
Of course, this was all smooth sailing, no journey is without its setbacks. though there are and they're worse Still Moments of Temptation and cravings for familiar Comfort foods but with each passing day my resolve strengthened. Finding myself with a family and friends with the same dietary needs as me made it so much easier, being around like-minded individuals encouraged me to keep going. as I write about my experience switching my diet, I hope to inspire those who may be reading and who are considering switching their diet. The path to plant-based living may seem daunting at first, but The rewards outweigh the challenges. with an open-minded willingness to embrace the change, anyone and everyone can experience the transformative power of a plant-based diet here's to a healthier and more compassionate future for us all.
